With help from Uncle Sam, Courtney Valos moved this past weekend into her house in the Battery Park neighborhood in North Richmond.
"I love old houses, especially the old arts-and-crafts-style houses," said Valos, a dental assistant.
Valos, 32, is the fifth woman to buy a house through a
down-payment-assistance program facilitated through New Visions, New
Ventures Inc., a local nonprofit whose mission is to help women find
financial security.
