Discretionary Grants listing now available

Individuals, organizations, localities, and state agencies in Virginia are now eligible — and encouraged — to apply for a number of competitive grants that have become available through the ARRA. The list was updated on August 17, 2009 and is listed by federal agency and contains a short description of the grant.

It is highly recommended that individuals or groups interested in applying for a competitive grant register as soon as possible to avoid delays or issues as the federal website may become overloaded due to high traffic. You may also want to submit print copies of your grant application in addition to your electronic application, as the electronic process may be overwhelmed due to the high volume of applications anticipated.

Dominion Foundation

Charitible Giving and the Dominion Foundation

Foundation grants are limited to organizations defined as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS code. Additional grants occasionally may be made directly from the corporation to sponsor special events that benefit a non-profit organization.

Grants are made in several categories (detailed below), and they support a variety of programs, such as foodbanks, homeless shelters, educational grants, cultural outreach programs in the performing arts, and land and habitat preservation, to name a few.
